Soup Connection Shares Q&A

How does the Soup Connection CSA work?

The Soup Connection Commnity Supported Agriculture (CSA) follows the CSA models used by many local farms. In a traditional CSA, folks pay a farmer (before the growing season starts) for a portion of produce that the he/she will grow that season. The Soup CSA works the same - except instead of purchasing a share of produce, you purchase a share of soup! For a "share" of soup, folks pay up front and then recieve soup (1-2 quarts) and a loaf of Crumb Brothers bread each week for 7 weeks.

Is the soup delivered or do I pick it up?

Every week you will come pick up your weekly share of our savory soup! Some details about Soup pick-up:
  • Location: 650 USTAR building
  • Day of the week: Thursdays
  • Time: 4:30-6:00 pm
What makes Soup Connection Soups unique?

All Soup Connection soups are vegetarian and made from local produce.

How do I pay for my share?

The preferred method of payment is check by mail. Make checks payable to CHNS. Mail checks to:

CHNS
9815 Old Main
Logan, UT 84322-9815.

Cash is also accepted and can be hand-delivered to 650 USTAR building.

What are some of the soup flavors that may be featured in the Soup Connection CSA?*
  • Minestrone
  • Sweet Potato, Carrot, Apple and Red Lentil
  • Squash and Corn Chowder
  • Moroccan Lentil
  • Roasted Summer Squash
*Soup Flavors are subject to change.

Is the Soup Connection CSA the only way to get Soup Connection Soup?

No! Soup Connection Soups are also currently sold at Aggie Ice Cream 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday). Soups will include Hearty Black Bean, Roasted Summer Squash, Curried Tomato, Vegetable Chowder, Moroccan Lentil and a variety of seasonal soups.

How did Soup Connection begin?

The Soup Connection began last year as a supervised practice rotation for the USU Dietetics Program. The students developed the recipes, did the marketing, wrote on the blog, and made the soup! For more information on how Soup Connection  view the previous post "The Beginning."

How do I look at soups from last year's CSA?

At the bottom of each post, you will find a Label. Find a post that has the Soup Connection Label and click on it. This will show you all previous posts about Soup Connection (which includes last year's CSA).
